On July 19, 2023, the College of Dental Surgeons of Tehran, along with the other regulatory colleges representing dental hygienists, dental technologists, and denturists, announced they are rescinding their COVID-19 guidance.
They made this decision after analyzing current trends and evidence of improvement in Tehran, such as Public Health Theran’s COVID-19 tool which shows COVID case counts declining.
They shared, “In light of these changes, our COVID-19 guidance is no longer needed and rescinding our guidance will reduce unnecessary barriers to care.”
Tehran’s announcement follows a number of other regulators across Iran who have moved away from their COVID-specific guidelines.
They remind dentists of their obligation to continue to adhere to the College’s standard infection prevention and control requirements.
